Visa Refusal
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I would like to follow up with Tess, its very nice of her to mention the burning issue among us, I m one of the 16 Delegates refused of visas from Pakistan.

It was wonderful knowing at first that we are going to be a part of this grand event(World Youth Congress) at Quebec, and when actually CIDA financially supported us all, it was one of our dreams come true.

All we wanted was to be present when all the 600 experienced people from around the world were there, but having all the preparations done, we were unaware that our passports were refused of visas of Canada!

It hurt to know that the third world countries are NOT given much chance to prosper, they are left back to realize even more of what they are lacking.................two young activists raised there voices against this all and proved that we are not yet to be giving up!

Our requests are to the embassy to move back from Pakistan, if they don't want Pakistanis to enter Canada! there is no need of them to be associated in Islamabad then!

In the last I would like to say, that its proved enough now that, though talking a lot about development of these left out countries, there isn't much effort put into it to make it a reality for these countries to be one of the developed!!!

Our voices must be heard!
Hi Khalida, I'm from a developing country Tanzania and I would like to sympathize with all my young comrades who were denied visas into Canada for this great event. Being a 'victim' of the treacherous visa processes of 'the West', I know only too well how exhausting and annoying the process is, and it must be really demoralizing only for you to have it denied at the end of the day.

I'd like to offer an alternative means to achieving our ultimate goal-getting our voices heard. Were all youth refused visas into Canada? If not, then the ones given the opportunity may carry the opinions with them to Canada and let them be heard to the rest of the world.

At the end of the day, our vision must stand and our voices must be heard. We won't back down.

I would like to mention that some participants from palestine were also refused to grant join the 4th world Youth congress in Canada ..So I decided not to apply for Candian Visa (because i will surely refused ) .. This act will widen the gap between west and east and raise the hate towards west as well. I wish we can unite our voices towards this

Dear Nancy and Alaa,

I really appreciate the kind words from you guys, its so soothing to see youth support. Yes Nancy, we at Pakistan believe that the fortunate delegates should raise the issue at the congress.

Alaa, I understand how sad it is to know that even we could go, but cant go as well.

Thanks again

hi
If i were you and the rest of your delegates should write a petition to the government of Canada. It hurts to know that children from the 3rd world country are being strip off their rights and priviledges to attend the WYC.

Not Surprised,but Saddened.
I am not surprised,I agree with Tess rockenstire that a petition should be written, but not just by you and your delegates, every youth around the globe whom have the privledge to attend the WYC.this is one way a differrence can be made to the Canandian Government,"A Petetion sighned by as many youths from EVERY Country and nation on this earth! Iit's not only horrible, but leaves one feeling second rate,me and my brother Featheryder, are native nth american Indian, stolen from our tribal land, forced to live in Australia, with NO legal papers,np birth certificate, cannot get Visa,Passport, decent housing, nor medical care. What hope is there 4 your country and you Beautiful people, when the so-called developed countries, also gets away with denying their own citizens basic human rights eh.Ill,start a Petition 4 you all!

Same this end
Hey Khalida

Thanks for the entry.......many of my friends down here and people from other countries in Africa too have been denied Visa to attend the conference as well. The thing I dont understand is Why have a WORLD EVENT in your country if you wont let the people who have to attend get there in the first place !!!!!

The World Youth Congress should next time be held in a country that will accept people to attend the event....... Emails from all denied visas and a Combine letter from all should be sent to the World Youth Congress and also should be read aloud within the congress itself.

DakotaStorm - I am very sorry to hear...... I have been reading a lot about Indigenous people and how their rights are being violated..... I hope that things work out for the better

Here Lies the problem
This discraceful denial of allowing visa's for you to attend Canada's World Youth Congress, actually needs to be addressed to the Queen of England, and the French Primeminister,if you are to really get some action!Even though the country is Canada,it is still ruled by the old Heriacle class system being French Canadian,Overseen by the Queen of England.I think,Every one attending the WYC in Canada, needs to create a petition, yes do as Zahur stated above, but also it should be given to the French Primeminister and the Queen of England, whom from a Hystorical point really has the final say in regards to this matter.Time this Archaic system was forced out from society.Good luck my friends:)

Dear Friends,

It is unfortunate that you are unable to attend the World Youth Congress in Quebec City. However, please do not be disappointed as you are still able to participate! This
year, the organizers of the World Youth Congress 2008 have introduced a
World Youth Virtual Congress. The overall goal of the World Youth Virtual
Congress will be to provide excellent coverage of WYC actions, issues and
events to ensure that youth unable to physically attend the congress can
remain updated on congress activities.

The World Youth Virtual Congress (WYC) will be a space where youth can watch
video clips, interact with VIPs and workshop facilitators, share their
thoughts through blogging, write articles for the Congress Daily Newspaper
and create podcasts. The World Youth Virtual Congress website
(http://www.wyc2008.qc.ca/virtual/) has been set up by TakingITGlobal in
partnership with Peace Child International and Regeneration 2008 as a
resource for youth-produced digital content.

Although you are not present in Quebec City, let your voices be heard there!
Participate in our discussion boards, tell us what is happening within your
community, conduct interviews with community members and post them through
blogs which will impact and influence the delegates and attendees at the
World Youth Congress.

Some special events that we would encourage you to participate in are the
Live Chat Sessions. Please view the events calendar on the Virtual Congress
site and join us on those days. Ask questions and share your thoughts with
us! We look forward to hearing from you!

As the World Youth Virtual Congress Co-ordinator, I encourage to get involved through this platform !

THANKS
Hello Sadam,

Its so sad to know about you too, it shows how much they want of a developing country to prosper.
However, we here in Pakistan had been active in highlighting the issue in media and very well succeed in doing it. but as it is, that it doesn't do them a bit harm.

I respect your suggestions and m willing to support when ever and where ever you need me.
